The author of the book “When the Man I Used to Be Died” is Adam Klocek, publishing under the pen name N. Promet.

The moral and economic rights to the book, its excerpts, the public demo version and the original texts published on npromet.pl belong to the author, unless otherwise stated next to a particular material.

Protection also covers original descriptions, the arrangement of content, graphic elements and other materials published on the website, to the extent that the relevant rights belong to the author.

2. Scope of access to the materials

Materials published on the website, including excerpts from the book and the public demo version in PDF format, are made available solely for the purpose of:

  • personally becoming acquainted with the content of the book,
  • learning about its character and style,
  • obtaining information about the project and the planned publication.

Making materials available for reading, opening or downloading does not constitute a transfer of copyright, the granting of a licence or consent to their further public distribution.

3. Prohibited use of materials

Without the author’s prior written consent, it is prohibited in particular to:

  • copy and publish the entire book or substantial parts of it,
  • publicly share the PDF file on the internet, social media, cloud storage services, discussion groups, databases or other services,
  • sell, provide for payment or otherwise use the materials commercially,
  • distribute translations, modifications, adaptations, abridged versions, derivative works or altered versions,
  • present the materials as one’s own work or attribute their authorship to another person,
  • remove or alter the author’s name, the book title, the source or copyright information,
  • use the materials in advertisements, publications, films, recordings, courses or other materials without the required consent,
  • automatically download, mass-copy, index or collect the content for the purpose of creating a separate collection of materials.

These restrictions do not apply to uses expressly permitted by mandatory provisions of applicable law.

4. Plagiarism and infringement of authorship

It is prohibited in particular to:

  • claim authorship of the entire work or any part of it,
  • publish the text without identifying the actual author,
  • make only minor linguistic or editorial changes and present the modified text as one’s own,
  • reproduce characteristic passages, structure or treatment of the work in a manner that infringes the author’s rights,
  • mislead recipients as to the authorship or source of the material.

Merely rewording, shortening, translating or changing the order of sentences does not create a right to freely distribute the resulting content.

5. Permitted use and quotation

Materials may be used without the author’s consent only within the limits permitted by applicable law, including private use and the right of quotation.

A quotation should:

  • come from a work that has already been made public,
  • be clearly distinguished from the quoting person’s own content,
  • be limited to the extent justified by the purpose of the quotation,
  • identify the author and the source.

The right of quotation may not be used as a pretext for publishing a substantial part of the book or as a substitute for access to the original work.

6. Public PDF demo

The public demo version of the book may be:

  • opened in a web browser,
  • downloaded to a personal device,
  • used for personal familiarisation with the content.

Downloading the file does not grant the right to distribute it publicly, publish it, sell it, modify it or place it on other websites.

Use of the file within the limits of lawful private use remains permitted to the extent provided by applicable law.

7. Text and data mining and artificial intelligence

The author reserves the rights to reproduce, download and use the materials for text and data mining, including the training, testing, development or supplying of artificial intelligence models and systems.

Without the author’s prior written consent, it is prohibited in particular to use the materials for:

  • training language models or other artificial intelligence systems,
  • creating training datasets and databases,
  • generating works imitating the content, structure or style of the book,
  • automated analysis and mass processing of the materials for commercial purposes.

This reservation applies to the extent permitted by applicable law.

8. Permission to use materials

Requests for permission to publish, reprint, translate, adapt or otherwise use the materials should be sent to:

Permission must be expressly confirmed by the author in writing or in documentary form.

The absence of a reply does not constitute permission.

Permission granted for one specific form of use does not automatically cover other forms of use.

9. Reporting infringements

Information concerning suspected plagiarism, unauthorised distribution of the book or other copyright infringements may be sent to:

The report should preferably include the address of the website or other place of publication and a brief description of the infringement.

10. Consequences of copyright infringement

In the event of unauthorised use of the materials, the author may exercise the remedies available under applicable law, including demanding:

  • cessation of the infringement,
  • removal of unlawfully published materials,
  • publication of information identifying the actual author and source,
  • removal of the consequences of the infringement,
  • compensation for damage,
  • surrender of profits obtained, where legally justified,
  • appropriate action by the service operator, hosting provider or competent authority.
